I took 39 photos for the 3 in this post. The rest failed.

Namaste.

When we fail, when we make a mistake, we learn. This is the key to success.

Successful people don’t just wake up and voila – success! They work hard at it, they practice, they train, they rehearse, and they try new and different things to see what works.

Just about any successful person will tell you they failed first. Edison failed 6,000 times before he succeeded with the light bulb, Walt Disney went broke 7 times and had a nervous bread down before he found success.

I love this video. I came across it via Sarah Wilson’s blog where she talks about how the most successful people fail, often.

“I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed.”

I’ve been practicing Yoga since the late 80s. I’ve tried lots of different styles and teachers, and I discovered the hard way that some are just not right for my body. If I'd stopped practicing or searching, or if I’d been put off by the first bad teacher I came across, then I wouldn’t be teaching now, nor, I believe, would I be as fit, healthy and happy as I am now. I kept looking and trying different things.

I often end class by asking you to “generate a sense of gratitude for all your challenges and joys” because it is both that make us who we are. It is the lessons learnt from our mistakes that help us move toward our goal. It is rare that a day goes by when I don’t make some sort of mistake, sometimes I learn, and sometime I make the same mistake, slightly differently, again the next day, and the next, but I figure the more times I learn how not to do something, the closer I am to knowing how to do it.

Have you failed and succeeded?

With Love.

Re: Success is in the failure

Great advice Gina, I often hear people say " I am scared I am going to make the wrong decision". My response is there is no such thing as a wrong decision, you just try something new and again that might not be what you hoped it to be, so you try again until you are happy with the decision you have made, it really is as simple as that you just keep on trying.
Another thing I often hear is " What if I get lost ", I believe there is no such thing as been lost, you'll always get to your destination just ask for guidence or ask the man at the petrol station, thats what I do, mind you these days everyone has a gps which eliminates getting lost, but on my travels I love getting lost who wants to walk the same way back to there hotel everytime ? I want to explore some dodgy back ally and meet and see new things along the way.
Namaste.

Re: Success is in the failure

Thanks Nicole, your comment about getting lost is great. I am one of those people who gets nervous about getting lost. But sometimes it is when we get lost that we find the new direction we need to make a change in our life (or the best patisserie in France!). It reminds me of the quote by Anthony Robbins: "If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always gotten." Getting lost could be the best thing that happens to some of us.

With Love
