Preparing For Your Yoga Class
There are some important things to know before you attend your first class at YogaHara.
Congratulations on enrolling in a YogaHara yoga class. We are looking forward to working with you to achieve your health and wellbeing goals. Yoga is for everyone. You don’t need experience or flexibility. Everyone works with their own body’s capabilities on the day. There is no competition. Be kind to yourself. Listen to what your body is telling you. You can come out of a pose at any time; you don’t need to wait until the teacher says so.
The info below will help you to get the best experience from your Yoga practice.
Before you attend your first class, please make sure you fill in the Health Questionnaire and bring it with you. If anything changes in relation to your health please let your teacher know before class.
What to bring
Please bring a Yoga mat and some water. You can purchase a mat from a sports store for around $40, or you can buy one from us on your first night for $30. It is more hygienic to have your own, plus you’ll able to practice at home if you want to.
What to wear
Wear comfortable clothes that you can move in. You will be sitting on the floor and leaning forward and sometimes will be upside down a little so wear clothes that are comfortable for you to do all that in. We practice in bare feet so please leave your shoes outside the Yoga room. For the comfort of others please avoid wearing strong perfume or cologne, or smoking just before class.
What to do before your class
Try to avoid eating at least 1 hour prior to the class, 2 hours for a large meal. Some Yoga poses work on the abdominal area making you feel uncomfortable if the tummy is full. Any strong exercise after eating takes energy away from the digestive process.
Please be on time, or a few minutes early. Entering late can be disruptive to the class and disrespectful to others and the door will be locked once the class begins. We know that sometimes running late is unavoidable, in which case, please text us to let us know that you're on your way so that we don't lock you out, and enter slowly and quietly to avoid disrupting others.
About our Yoga
You will be practicing Hatha Yoga. Hatha Yoga is physical postures and breathing practices, it also includes some meditation (depending on the class) and most classes will end with relaxation.
Cancelling a class
If you are not able to attend your class, please log into your account and cancel yourself out of the class. This will free up the space for someone else and will allow you to rebook another time. If you don’t cancel yourself out of a class you will lose that class credit.
The YogaHara studio is at 1A King Street, Bendigo. Parking is on the street or there are two council car parks within 200 metres of the studio, one on the corner oof King and Edwards and the other on the corner of Mitchel Street and Lyttleton Terrace.
